My son is 3 and this month we are all about Luca and Alberto.I read the description for this toy and yes, its small (5’5 in).It does not change color point blank. We tried cold water and ice water. Tap and bottled water! Its made to where the pieces are interchangeable with other toys, yes I looked the other interchangeable toys could not be found. Further more, Ive noticed that the joints where these pieces lock into are not very sturdy and have a hard time staying in place/locked in place, I know this because since Monday mama has had to put the thing back together 97 times.Cool points….the Luca box it comes in is awesome and bottom line is my son has the toy, its not like he is going to give it back for the above mentioned reasons. But I do think this could have been done better. Example: McDonalds Happy Meal toys (can I name big brands here!?!?) Too late! The Luca and Alberto color change toys actually change color and are built waaaaay better that this one!Could be just my kid….but I’m leaning toward it just being a subpar toy.

Mine’s fin does change color. The toy is very poseable, yet flimsy. Not sure if for a 3 y/o. Good thing is parts detach so not that easy to break, but worried if it’s lose that ability over time. This one is very noticeable when you take it out of water itll start to turn back to dark purple almost instantly.

Soooo, had a huge order issue with this. I don’t know why this toy is so popular, but we waited a long time after it went out of stock after we ordered it. I did not think it was flimsy at all and the parts are interchangeable, which is great for the Vespa crash set I ordered, which is still on back order. The head and arms snap off and on pretty easily. At first, for about a week, we got no color changing. I tried it with very warm water and what I THOUGHT was cold enough water, neither worked. I then saw a post online where one person literally stuck it in the freezer and low and behold, magic! So i filled a large measuring cup with tons of ice, and yup, Luca did change colors! After that it seemed like it triggered the change easily without the ice, just cold water, so it does work! In fact, the difference in temperature between water and air will trigger it. It’s only his hair and fin, but for a kid, that’s amazing all together. If your child loved the movie Luca, they will LOVE this. My son, who’s 5 years old, has a ton of other toys I feel are way cooler, but with this…my goodness…he was ecstatic, just screaming with joy! He even slept with it. He plays with it every day and takes daily baths with it. This was definitely a good buy at a good price.

My child was excited for the color change aspect but they do not change in hot water or cold water… usually toys like this will change with just warmth of skin touching the plastic and so even just that initially was disappointing. Overall the purchase of this item wasn’t to see a color change, the toys themselves (we got both Luca and Alberto) are as expected… basic plastic like the other Disney Pixar character toys they’ve been releasing the last year or so.

This figure just is so cute and likeable! He is fun to pose. You do need to be somewhat careful as the limbs are designed to be detachable (But that is by design as they can be mix and match with other figure’s arms and legs). I have not tried the color change feature, but regardless find this a fun figure for either decoration or for play.

Box was partially damaged upon arrival, but product was salvaged. Luca stands at about 5 and a half inches in height, and his fins do change color (blue for cold water, pink for hot). He does not come with human parts, those are sold separately. Try to figure out which joints can be removed first (I got the hips, the legs from the pants down, the arm shoulders down, the whole head, and the tail). He looks almost exactly like the film version, just a little less detailed is all. Have fun with Luca!NOTE: The globe is not included, it is a prop. Alberto comes separately, and he has the same joints and color change.

Nice quality toy, good gift. However, it was shipped in just the original box from the store, label slapped on and one edge had been cut open so it was held together in the mail just by rubber bands. Poor shipping job made it impossible to gift it in the original box, but I’m at least thankful it made it through the mail because that was a miracle.
